“Runners High” Public Screening
As you wind down your training for the ING Georgia Marathon and Half Marathon, mark your calendars for Friday, March 23 at 7:30 p.m., for one of the most inspiring films you’ll ever see.
“Runners High” is a documentary of struggle, courage and hope. It follows four teenagers from East Oakland, Calif., who bare their dreams, joys, tears and fears as they train for the Los Angeles Marathon. As several stumble under pressure in emotionally charged moments, others realize the journey begins with power and commitment to accept responsibility for their own futures.
The screening will be held at the Plaza Theater, located at 1049 Ponce De Leon Ave., Atlanta. Admission is $10, with all proceeds going to the ING Run For Something Better – a program that provides free school-based running programs for kids in Atlanta middle schools, and includes a special pair of orange shoelaces showing you are “tied” to kids’ fitness. The screening will be followed by a special in-person Q&A with the filmmaker and several cast members.
